VSP in terms of Ramage Chapter 5: Interpretive Relationships.
1. "in terms of" something else
The viewers of my photographs may begin to think about families and how all the different age groups come together. I want to focus on this idea, but I want to pull away from just parent and child and expand into grandparents and grandchildren, cousins of different ages, extended family relations. So I will try to pull images that support all the different levels and groups of relationships that may exist.
2. within a particular genre
I think that the genre I have pulled the photographs from would be mostly personal— the images are of my family which means something to be. But I want the images to be informative to my audience and for them to also feel connected on a personal level. I will mis in photographs that don't show my family but show the intergenerational mixes in other families.
3. in light of personal observation
To me these images show my family and they show people who I know. I want to show the audience that they can also "know" these people, just on a different level. Understanding family values and the importance of multiple generations within them is what I want my viewers to get from my photographs and from the story I am creating by putting them together.
4. in the company of others
I want my audience to feel connected to family- to my family, to their family, to the concept of family. I want to display the images to show how important it is to have your family and to understand the connections between family members. Age differences in family can make a family stronger because of the protectiveness of family and because of how people learn from one another.
